Prof. Dr. Peter Wick

Research laboratory for Nanomaterials in Health at the Federal Laboratories on Materials Science and Technologies Empa in St. Gallen and Adj Professor at Department Health Science and Technology (D-HEST) at ETHZ.

Prof. Dr. Peter Wick heads since 2010 the research laboratory for Nanomaterials in Health at the Federal Laboratories on Materials Science and Technologies Empa in St. Gallen and is 2023 appointed as Adj Professor at Department Health Science and Technology (D-HEST) at ETHZ. 2002 He got his PhD degree in Cell- and molecular Biology from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. His general research interest is to study the interactions of nanomaterials with human barrier tissue in vitro and ex vivo with the purpose to obtain detailed mechanistic understanding about their uptake, accumulation, biotransformation, transport and effects. My team relies on rational design of functionalized nanomaterials, state of the art human advanced in vitro model system, system biology, comprehensive bio-analytical and correlative imaging. My team explore nanosafety and nanomaterial-based health solution. He is member of the EDQM working group for NBCs and Nano respectively, member of the Swiss National COVID-19 Science Task Force and founder of the Swiss National Contactpointnano.ch.
